EGYPT
Ancient Egyptian vessels were powered by sails and oars. They were steered by stern mounted oars. The boats sailed on the Nile, canals and the sea moving people and cargo. The early boats were made from papyrus, later boats were made from wood. These boats were widely used from 3500BC.
